Goggles
The Backbone of your NVIS program
A pilot or other crew-member that is utilizing an aviation night vision imaging system (NVIS) to conduct night flight in visual flight rules (VFR) is considered to be conducting NVG Flight Operations. The backbone of a NVIS program is the Night Vision Goggles (NVG), considered the key "appliance" required for operation.
Night vision aviation operations involve unique and critical use requirements regulated by government authorities, such as the FAA, for manufacturing, operations, training, and maintenance. This is to ensure the aviation grade night vision goggle meets certain parameters, performance specifications, and conditions for sustainment in operations to be considered "air-worthy" and acceptable to fly with.
There are three main NVG manufacturers that operate in the United States and are ITT Industries, L3 Communications (formerly Northrop Grumman), and NIVISYS Industries. Night Flight Concepts can help identify and deliver the NVG goggle and parts options that meet your organizations needs.
